Me sitting proudly next to my first professionally-done mural.

In August of 2020, I was hired to paint a mural for a four-unit apartment building in Richmond. My client wanted something inspiring, surrounding the theme of community. I worked with them to make a colorful and hopeful design. Over time, aspects of the design were changed based on the client’s requests as they changed their minds on certain aspects of the design. Still, the process was very enjoyable and we were all very happy with it in the end!

While a good friend helped out with the priming process, I quickly learned that the bricks sticking out would pose as a challenge throughout the process of the mural.

After painting about four out of seven faces, the client had some changes in mind. They asked to have everyone facing in profile and to add about four more faces. I went back and began making these changes.

Despite the setbacks, I was able to complete the mural with very good timing!
